Portland Hockey Trust
About Us
The goal is simple: give children the opportunity to play hockey and have fun.
Our mission: The Portland Hockey Trust promotes the physical, emotional and social well-being of youth in Portland by providing opportunities to skate and play hockey, open to all and free of charge.

Our Story
The Portland Hockey Trust (PHT, Inc. since 1996) began in 1993. Tom Edwards, a founding member, was the Superintendent of Portland Schools at that time. It initially began on Wednesdays with Jack School, located where the current East End Community School is. Hall (now Rowe), Presumpscot and Longfellow schools soon joined. For a couple of years, the school would bus students from Jack and Hall to the William B Troubh Ice Arena (TIA) as part of their afternoon run on Wednesdays.
PHT is run entirely by volunteers and offers two 8 week skating sessions a year during the Spring and the Fall. These two hour skates are fully staffed with coaches and equipment managers that have come together through their love of hockey. Skates and equipment are provided and today, any Portland 3rd, 4th or 5th grader is welcome to join us to skate and play hockey at no charge.
